Add to Watchlist

This is the 103rd men's National Championships, starting with "Inter Colonial Meets", the first being in 1890. For the women it is the 81st Championships, the first being in 1930. These Championships were combined under one Federation for both men & women in 1978.

The National Championships will be a key way in which athletes can become eligible for selection for the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. Australian Athletics selection policy and standards are here.

These Nationals will also be the selection trial for the Oceania Regional Championships (18-23 May, Darwin). The selection policy outlines a 'no discretion' approach for selection, with first two nominated athletes in each event being selected, along with 3rd top ranked nominated athlete (rank begins 1-9-25).
