And what you have all been waiting for the Field-a-team podium: LouiseShanahan's Team sprinted to a 13 point victory, from AlanMcCutcheon's Team. In perhaps the closest finish of the day Ultra Cool Runnings pipped annedoyle1's Team and Rdenmead's Team by a single point to win Bronze.

Nadia Battocletti (ITA) an unsurprising winner of the Senior Women's race. Megan Keith (GBR) finished in second and Yasemin Can (TUR) third. With only the senior men's race to go Louise Shanahan's Team leads annedoyle1's Team by 9 points with SeanH's Team third. Double points in the Senior Men's race means that it is all to play for in this final race.

Italy stormed to gold in the mixed relay ahead of Portugal and Great Britain. In Field-a-Team, SeanH's Team continues to hold the lead, 9 points ahead of Caoimhins.

Nick Griggs runs away from the rest of the Men's U23 field to finally win GOLD! CNDR clubmate Callum Morgan crosses the line in 8th with Niall Murphy close behind in 10th to win team Gold! It was Silver and Bronze for the French with Radja and Boudy.

In Field-a-Team, SeanH's Team is 9 points ahead of LouiseShanahan's Team, with Caoimhins one point behind in 3rd. All to play for with the senior races to come and double scoring.

In the U23 Women's race Mononen (FIN) had to settle for silver behind Spain's Forero. Schlayymann got the better of her German teammate Merkel for Bronze. Catley92's Team has streached to a 16-point lead ahead of SeanH's Team and annedoyle1's Team.

In the U20 Men's race a well time sprint finished saw Renders (BEL) taking the gold from GAITAN (ESP) with Abraham (FRA) taking the bronze. In Field-A-Team SeanH's Team has taken the lead ahead of Catley92's Team with annedoyle1's Team currently in third!

Big first race for the Irish with 16 year old Emma Hickey taking Bronze. No surprise with the winner Innes Fitzgerald (GBR) and a very strong last lap earns Lucie Paturel (FRA) the silver. Strong starts in the fantasy competition by Roryq07's Team and mary egan who share the lead.

We've added some information on some of the key athletes in each race. You may find some of the event previews useful too. European Athletics will publish event-by-event previews next week, but their overview article may also help get you started. Well also be publishing an article in the coming days highlighting some of the athletes to look out for.

Note that athletes may withdraw between now and the event start. While we will endeavour to announce here any withdrawals we spot, it is up to you to make changes to your team where necessary. It's likely that final-ish startlists will be available on Saturday evening. 

Note: Jimmy Gressier's participation will only be confirmed after a road race in Switzerland on Sunday.

Entries are now open for the second of our fan-engagement competitions: Field-a-Team: Lagoa. Simply select 3 athletes to earn you points in each of the six individual races at next Sunday's European Cross Country Championships. Athletes earn points by finishing in the top 20. Points are doubled for the senior races. The player with the most points wins.

The top 4 in Field-a-Team: Tokyo were: 1) Marley-CR; 2) AllInTheGame; =3) TeamAA and Cussen4.

We look forward to announcing the latest Field-a-Team podium shortly after next Sunday's event.


Introduction

Field-a-Team is TrackAthletes' fan engagement competition. The Lagoa edition is now open and will run alongside the 2025 European Cross Country Championships.

Unlike traditional prediction competitions, athletes in your team will score points simply by finishing in the top 20. Unlike traditional fantasy competitions, there are no restrictions on the total ‘value’ of athletes you can select.

The winner will be the player whose team has accumulated the most points. There will be no prizes, except for the honour of being a TrackAthletes Field-a-Team winner!

Information

Overview

To take part in Field-a-Team: Lagoa, simply select three athletes in each of the six individual races (men’s and women’s U20, U23 and senior races) and three teams in the mixed senior relay.

The winner of the competition will be the player whose team has accumulated the most points (see scoring below). There will be no prizes, except for the honour of winning.

You can make unlimited changes to your team, right up until the final deadline (see below for details). Replacements will not be possible after the final deadline, even if athletes subsequently withdraw before the start of an event.


Getting started

Use your TrackAthletes account to enter your team. This allows you to change your team, track your progress and view your final result. Accounts are free to set up, and the same account will give you access to the main TrackAthletes site. If you already have an account, you do not need to sign up for a new one.


Scoring

Your athletes and teams have the potential to score points even if they don’t win a medal in Lagoa.

  • Each individual athlete you select will earn you points if they finish anywhere in the top 20. The higher they finish, the more points they earn you.
  • Athletes who win their race will be awarded 25 points, silver medallists 22 points, 19 points for bronze, then 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for 4th to 20th place respectively.
  • Relay teams will earn you points if they finish in the top 5. The scoring is 15 points for 1st, 11 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd, 5 for 4th, and 3 for 5th.
  • The points you score in the senior races (including the relay) will be doubled before being added to your total.

For example, if you select Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Yann Schrub and Brian Fay for the senior men and they finished 1st, 5th and 10th respectively, then you’ll earn (25+16+11) x 2 = 104 points for the senior men’s race.
 

Selecting your team

You will be presented with a list of entries for each of the events from which you can choose. We will attempt to remove withdrawn athletes and add announced replacements up to the closing date. These changes will be noted in the "live updates" section so keep on eye on this in case it impacts your team and you need to make changes.

We have included information on some key athletes (previous medals; other achievements) to make it as easy as possible to select athletes that will at least be competitive.


Submitting and changing your team

Once you set up an account and start entering athletes, the system will store your most recent selections. You don't actually hit a 'save' or 'submit' button after selecting your athletes. This allows you can make unlimited changes to your team, right up until the final deadline.

Once the final deadline passes, your most recent selection will be locked in. This is the selection that will be scored.

Replacements will not be possible after the final deadline, even if athletes subsequently withdraw before the start of their event.

To make team changes, simply select a new athlete from the dropdown menu options under the team member you would like to change. This athlete will then replace the one you had previously selected.


Leaderboard

Every effort will be made to score the events and update the leaderboard after each race. The leaderboard will be displayed on the Field-a-Team dashboard.

At the end of Lagoa 2025, the player whose ‘team’ has amassed the most points will be declared the winner.

In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided based on the player who has selected the most gold medallists. If players still can't be separated, we'll move to silver medallists, and then, if needed, to bronze.


Leagues

We've added the option to set up a league within the game, so that you can play along with your friends, family or teammates. To set up a league, choose 'Leagues' from the header options, and create a new league (you will need to already be logged into the system to set up a league). Then share the league name and joining code with those you'd like to join you in the league.

To join a league you've been invited to, simply choose the league you want to join and add the joining code that has been shared with you.


Prizes

Entry into this contest is free, and there are no prizes, apart from the long-lasting pride of being named the winner.
 

Entry Deadline

The deadline for entries to be submitted is one hour before the start of the first race. This is 08:30 (GMT) on Sunday 14 December 2025 (08:30 in Ireland, or 18:30 in Australian Eastern Standard Time).  Please check how your own time zone differs from GMT to make sure you meet the entry deadline!


Other Rules

  • Only one team is allowed per player.
  • Users are expected to refrain from using abusive, derogatory or vulgar team names. Offensive or vulgar team names will be changed, and offending teams may be removed from the game.


Tips on Selecting Athletes

Athletes are listed alphabetically by country code. You should be able to find them in the drop-down menu by starting to type their name. All the competing athletes are listed.

We've included some information on prior accomplishments of key competing athletes. However, these should only be used as a guide.

If you want to play along but don't want to spend hours researching athletes and their form, we'd highly recommend reading the event-by-event previews that European Athletics publishes in the lead-up to the event. We'll add these to the Live Updates section on this page.
