About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to get more people watching, attending, and following the wonderful sport of track and field athletics, by collating all the relevant information in one place.

…making it easier for die-hard, occasional, once-every-four-years, and don't-yet-know-it fans to follow the sport…

Whether you're the sport's biggest fan looking for athletics to watch on a Tuesday night in mid-April; an athlete trying to keep Aunty Joan informed of where to watch the continental tour meet in the random Scandinavian town you're competing in this week; or an inspired member of the public looking to follow the Irish start more than once every four years, then this is the site for you.

Our Team

Louise Shanahan and Elizabeth Egan are a pair of self-confessed geeks with a healthy obsession with data and an unhealthy obsession with athletics. We run a bit ourselves too, with varying degrees of success.

Louise, from Cork, is an Irish senior international athlete. She competed in the 800m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has multiple Irish titles and held the Irish senior 800m record from May 2022 to May 2023. She completed a PhD in Quantum Physics at University of Cambridge in 2024, and has since picked up the programming skills to build this website. Louise is sponsored by Asics and is currently aiming to qualify for her second Olympics in 2028.

Elizabeth has been tracking Irish athletes on their ‘Road to…’ journeys, deciphering ranking points and sharing links to livestreams and results since 2020. She has a PhD in Exercise Physiology, has published two books, and provides lifestyle and personal development coaching to high performance sportspeople (somuchmore.ie). She competed in her first All Ireland cross country championships in 1993 and has six Irish Senior steeplechase medals.

Elizabeth and Louise met for the first time in October 2023, and had their first conversation about this site in July 2024, just six months before it launched.

Angus Barnes has been working with the team since April 2025 to help establish and manage TrackAthletes Australia. Angus’s passion for athletics stems from days as a junior middle distance runner in the 1980’s representing Tasmania. He’s always been interested in the data and reporting aspect of sport, editing an in-house newsletter for the Australian Institute of Sport resident athletes, while living there as an athlete supervisor. His level of engagement with athletics has grown over the last few years with the increasing prevalence of livestreamed events and growing prominence of Australian athletes on the world stage.

All photos on the site are used with the permission of the photographer who took them. We are indebted to Eric Bellamy, Mark Kavanagh, Keith McClure, and Gregory Ufnal for the use of their wonderful shots on the Irish section of TrackAthletes and Fred Etter, Michael Thomas (MTSportsPhotography), InsideAthletics and SS Athletics for their photos on TrackAthletes Australia.
